Collage

This is a painting/collage that I did in 1995. It was one of the first ‘big’ pieces I did back then 🙂 It is quite large at 8’x4′.

It is done on a large plywood sheet with old torn magazines, newspaper, fevicol, large quantities of enamel paint, an industrial spray gun and lots of paint thinner, and of course with complete abandon and fearlessness. The thinner was needed to remove paint in order to get the spidery vein appearance that you see in the details.  This technique is one I learnt many moons ago from a friend of my fathers, – Photographer Bhalu Monde.

I painted it with flowers in mind. My brother- in-law, who is a jeweler, sees them as cut rock crystals and some others as the top view of three ballerinas dancing 🙂

Love the interpretation that it is ‘the top view of 3 ballerinas dancing’. But of course!
It looks like you’ve had a lot of fun doing this painting 🙂
