A vintage photograph/portrait

I don’t usually take commissions where the source image is small or grainy/not high resolution enough. But this one is special. It’s a request from an old school friend. She wanted me to paint a portrait of a dear friend’s mother for his birthday. The thing is that his mother died young and there are not too many photographs available. So… I got to work and after a lot of questions and answers on possible colors and tones – this is what I got at the end.

She seemed happy with the result. I am hoping her friend is too!!
