I am throwing the rule book out the window! Sometimes it is good to go with instinct and pick up colours and brushes at random. Without others or my inner voice, for that matter, telling me to do things a certain way because, well, they have been done that way forever.
So yeah- Just let me be!
This one was fun in a way that I can’t explain. It came together in about an hour. I cut, paste and exaggerated the drips to mimic my own Pen-n-inks that I love so much.
The experiments in my studio continue. I would love for someone to commission me to do a portrait based on mood and not on getting a full likeness, and the same colours as in the reference image. Inshaallah! Maybe I will just do something anyway.
I did one of my dearest friends and fellow artist, @alok_johri, way back in 2011. My skill has improved a great deal since then, thank god!
