This is a portrait of my friend Saritha’s mothership. Yes, that is what Saritha calls her 🙂 I have never met aunty in person but I have seen posts about her on Saritha’s social media feeds. We did connect on a video call the day I showed her the portrait.

Dr Indira Hegde is an entrepreneur and has authored three collections of stories, four novels and an anthology of poems. Her research work “Buntaru ondu Samajo Samskrutiya Adhyayana,’ has also been translated into English.

She has been honoured with several prestigious awards including Karnataka Janapada Academy Award, Rani Abbakka Award, Kamana Ranga Swami Endowment Award and Sahitya Academy Award.
She also earned the coveted chairmanship of the Mangaluru Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelan scheduled held at St Agnes College on January 29 2019.
Dr Indira Hegde hails from Kinnigoli and is an acclaimed scholar and researcher. A postgraduate degree holder, she also has done D Lit and is a postgraduate diploma holder in social studies. More recently she was invited to the panel to speak about Bhoota Worship South Kantara at the Bangalore Literature Festival.

Over the years I have saved pictures of friends and their families on Facebook or Instagram as a possible reference. Last year I decided to dive into that folder and start. I put out a post on FB letting everyone know what I planned to do.
Sari (@sarithanjh)and I have been friends on fb for over a decade now. We’ve met a few times and each time I have been totally fascinated by her entrepreneurial spirit. She is the force behind @njh_malaikal and @not_just_hot_saucesandmore.
